A rat can squeeze through a gap the size of a coin, a mouse through a crack just a few millimetres wide. As long as those openings stay open, putting down bait simply makes room for the next arrivals.
So our technician starts by mapping the routes: ducts, drains, gaps under doors, access hatches, outdoor manholes. The current population is dealt with using key-locked bait stations, then every entry point found is blocked. The follow-up visit checks bait uptake and that the repairs are holding.
